Bittersweet, nerve-racking, exciting start to an adventure⦠
Itās 438ish days since we closed and sold our townhouse, and weāre sitting in Sanford, four minutes away from the place we called home for so long. Itās wild!
We were going to start this east coast adventure a few weeks later. Then we were going to start at the year mark. Then we were going to leave in June ā right after my birthday.
Then, we would use our Atlanta trip for the Fourth of July as our catalystā¦
You see where Iām going with this; we just werenāt ready. Will we ever be ready?
Nope! lol. I was willing to push it back to the first week of August, but THANKFULLY Orlando told me we had to stick to it. The last day we could leave was July 25th.
Thenā¦
*Trigger warning* My 36-year-old cousin, Jeremy, died unexpectedly; his Marine Corps Funeral Honors was scheduled for July 20th.
Okay. I wouldnāt miss that, so we had a decision to make. Come back after and pack? Or depart from South Florida.
We were going to choose to stay and pack after, but in a divine turn of events, we had to stick to our plan because an appointment I magically got with my Ortho for the 21st couldnāt be rescheduled until SEPTEMBER.
So we knew we had to get it done, packed and cleaned, and vetoed things we packed in about three days.
Every room I āclosedā felt like I was abandoning the place we finally grew accustomed to calling home.
But isnāt that challenge part of it all?
I find myself daydreaming about owning a house again. Having a permanent garden where the rosemary doesnāt die after two weeks because no one was there to water it. (The basil survived. )
But if thereās one thing I have faith inā¦
Following through with what we set out to do in April 2022 has to happen. Thereās something in this we are meant to see. Meant to find. Meant to feel.
Iāve waited too long to jump before, and itās the worst. When something is on your heart for so long, and then poof. You just know that story isnāt yours anymore.
So while we will miss our families, the cardinals in the backyard, the sweltering salt water heat, and our own bed, itās time. And I am nervously and anticipatingly waiting to see where this goes.
And if Jeremy can die of natural causes at 36 years old, doesnāt that go to show? A lot of the time, itās now or never.
Soā¦the adventure begins.
FAQ:
Are you moving permanently?
Thatās not our intention, we are trying to get out and see some seasons as Floridians, and we felt the east coast to New England was the move for now. But who knows!
When are you coming back?
Our goal is to make it from summer to fall to winter. But we will have to see! Ego isnāt driving this. If we want to come home tomorrow, we will, lol.
So wish us luck, pray for us, and follow the adventure! Iāll try to share the good, bad, and ugly.
Off to post some IG stories for one of our clients!
Hugs and high fives,
Ruth
